Ports & Coastal Jobs
Strengthen our ports. Defend coastal jobs.
Dr. Kahl believes Oregon's ports, fishing communities, ranchers, dairies, small businesses, and coastal workers deserve focused attention from Congress. District 1 needs practical infrastructure, fair policy, and a representative who understands that coastal jobs are essential to Oregon's future.
Port Infrastructure
Oregon's ports need practical investment, maintenance, and attention so goods, seafood, and local industries can move.
Working Coast
Fishing families, ranchers, dairies, and small businesses deserve representation that values real production and local jobs.
Competitive Communities
Coastal communities should have the infrastructure and policy support needed to compete and stay resilient.
Why coastal jobs matter in OR-01
Ports and working waterfronts connect Astoria, Warrenton, Seaside, Garibaldi, Rockaway Beach, and Tillamook to jobs throughout Oregon Congressional District 1. Dredging, fisheries, maritime commerce, tourism, and small ports all affect family income in Clatsop County Oregon and Tillamook County Oregon.
For Dr. Kahl, coastal policy is not abstract. It should help Oregon small businesses, protect the Oregon fishing industry, and keep transportation and logistics strong from the coast to Washington County Oregon and Columbia County Oregon.
Serving Oregon's 1st Congressional District
Oregon's 1st Congressional District includes Clatsop County, Columbia County, Tillamook County, most of Washington County, and part of Multnomah County, including Portland's west side.
These priorities affect Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tigard, Forest Grove, Astoria, Warrenton, Seaside, Tillamook, St. Helens, Scappoose, Vernonia, Rainier, Clatskanie, west Portland, and communities across northwest Oregon.
